Anyone with knowledge when we might expect this? It has been a while since the last one.

There are a lot of threads out here that are all waiting for responses from URC. Probably not coming.

Last month's Wired did a story on "Why Things Suck" and included Junk Mail, Air Travel, Spam Filters and things like that. I'd love to add in "Pro/consumer grade Universal Remotes." Let's face it gang, they all suck. The Pronto was the best thing going for a while because it had great support. Still not a great remote as it was too tied to touch screen technology. They came out with a color model with more buttons but it was really expensive.

URC started to look good with their prices but stick you with crippleware unless you buy it from an authorized dealer. Why is that OUR problem? Why do the SELL them to unauthorized dealers? And, well, you see how poor their support is....

What we need is the "Tivo" of Universal Remotes. Decent hardware born out of need and crazy good technical support. Tivo beat a superior product (ReplayTV) because of their support and responsiveness to their customers.

There will be a database update eventually. Just because they had been releasing them every three months doesn't mean they're obliged to do so. I'd expect it will come soon enough.

When they update the database, they do so for every remote, including the newest ones, so it's not like they've forgotten about the MX-850 or anything.

Gee thanks for that informative reply.

I'm not sure if this will help but I got mad today that I couldn't save in my editor that comes from B&K. The B&K remote is a URC MX-700. I called and they told me everyone is mad about it and told me to just unload the software and do a new install. It worked and the software save button works again.

I find it hard to believe, with the URC participation on this thread, that I cannot get a reasonable reply. Tell me next week, month, something besides sooner or later. With the amount of views this thread has garnered I am not the only one interested in an answer. Forgive my rant but........

It may help to explain what you are looking for in an update. An answer that one is coming in X amount of time does nothing if you don't know what it will accomplish.

Denon AVR-2808CI mxd file, among a few others, being the most important. I assume since the AVR-3808CI is in the current database (released just before The AVR-2808CI) that this one would be included in the next update. Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

So if you download the AVR-3808CI, do those codes work for the 2808? In many cases, URC will not code every single model in the world if exact code can be found in similar models.

No the AVR-3808CI nor AVR-2807CI codes would work. IIRC, and it has been months since I tried, maybe a few functions on one of the two but not anywhere close to being functional.

I stopped dealing with Denon after the 07 series but the codes would always be the same across the series and for the most part across different model years. I've looked over the binary IR commands for the 2808 and 3808 and they are the same which to me means yours should work with the 3808 commands. When you load the 3808 are you merely testing via the laptop or loading it to the remote and testing via IR (not RF)? If you can't get that to work you could convert the binary to pronto hex and import via the Universal Browser. You'll need to learn how to use the Make Hex and IR Panels to generate this. Search the forums for how to do this and if you get in a bind, THE MAN to talk to is username johnsfine.

Or you could learn manually from the OEM remote.

Already did what you suggested; see my comments in the previous posts. I have not the time/desire/ability to do the binary/hex deal. To learn the codes is a PITA for me since I don't own a laptop; only a desktop in a room separate from my home theater. Guess I will just wait until the next update or pickup up a $100 harmony 880 on Amazon if my frustration level gets high enough. Just curious, why did you stop dealing with Denon after the 07 series?
