Another stupid novice question.
I use Lighroom as my primary photo editing software and it is configured to open and import photos whenever I insert a CF card. Whenever I plug the MX980 into the USB port, LR opens. Even if it’s open, it’ll pop up as the active screen when I plug the remote into the computer. This is driving me nuts!
I can not find anywhere in LR to change this, and I don’t know Vista very well yet and can’t find how to stop this from occurring.
Any suggestions?

I would start by going into Control Panel-->Default Programs.
After that, it could be either two places, Auto Play or Associate file type.
I hope this helps, I use Lightroom secondary only to Photoshop, and with my copy of CS3, it would open whenever I plugged in my Digital Rebel Xti.
That was a while ago and it slips my mind how I hurdled that one, but I know it was with the Default Programs.
Good Luck, Joey

Thanks Joey.
I looked under “Associated file type or protocol with a specific program” in Default Programs.
I have several file types where LR is the default program. All but three are LR specific. They are:
AGLIB File ABMODULE File AGTOOLKIT File
Any idea which one of these is tied to the MX Editor USB driver for the remote?

Hey, I just looked in my copy of Lightroom, and in the preferences, under the Import tab, the first option should not be enabled, stating "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected".
Try to disable this if it is checked, then try again.

See if this works. Go to Vista control panel. Open Auto play. At the bottom there is a Windows Mobile device. Select take no action from the pull down menu.

Thanks... There is no mobile device listed, but I tried selecting "take no action" for pictures. That stopped LR from opening. Not sure why Vista thinks this remote is camera media storage.
Now if I could figure out Variables, I'll declare success with programing this thing. :)
