How do I get a code from this spreadsheet,
[Link: us.marantz.com] (can't get the link right, it should include the ..._DVD(2).zip) added to an MX-900? The code is the HDMI code for the VC6001, which turns out to be 004 198 in the DVD1 command column.

After some searching I think I need to convert it to hex with makehex, which I've downloaded. I'm not sure how to do that, though. Can someone give me a hand? BTW, is there a GUI for makehex?

Thanks

I needed to do the same thing. I got help in the discrete codes forum and posted it. MakeHex is pretty simple to use. No GUI. Edit the RC5X.irp file and then drop it into HakeHex in Windows Explorer. It will generate a file with a .hex extension. Paste the hex into Universal browser. My folllow up post is below.

The Marantz is RC5x and the supplied code 00 116 01 goes into the .irp file as device 0.116 and function1. Paste the resulting hex into Universal Browser, choose a key on the remote and drag the little bullseye to the action list.

Thanks for the help. I'll post this in the other forum and try out your hint...though the code I got looks a bit different.

Yes, those codes look different. Mine was for a PJ. I took a look at the .pcf file using Wizz.It and it says thay are RC6. I would start trying different combinations in MakeHex like Device 4, Function 198 and see if it works.

Ok, so I got a resulting hex code:

Device Code: 4 Function: 198
0000 0073 0000 0013 0060 0020 0010 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0020 0010 0010 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0010 0010 0020 0010 0BD1

Copied it (starting at 0000, don't need the 'Device Code...' do I?), pasted it in the Universal Browser, but can't drag to the Action List. But, can drag to a button, then an 'L' shows up like it's a learned code. The button's also renamed to HEXDATA. I'm guessing it worked. Can't test it, though, don't actually have my player.
