Hello,

I wanted to ask where or how can I obtain IR codes that are in hex or pronto format that I can cut/copy the text-based code and paste the text/code.

I have a USB-UIRT type of device and the unit accepts both hex and pronto codes. I found it to be much easier when copying and pasting the code into the device screen rather than sitting and learning all the commands manually from the remote.

I figure that there has be be a way to get these codes from either Pronto (CCF) or URC (mxd) device files.

My hand-held remote is a MX-850 and I use the URC software to program this device. I see the the URC software allows you to add a IR command via direct hex input but it does not allow you to export the hex code for the buttons.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
T.Wells

There's no way to get hex code "from" the URC software. However, if you get ProntoEdit (from the "Files" section of this website), you can get the hex codes from a CCF file. Open the file in ProntoEdit, bring up one of the button panels and double click on a button. Then, double click on the command in the "Button Properties" window and another screen will open. Click on "View IR" to see the hex code for that button. You can then copy/paste it to MXEditor.

There is a way to get hex out of the MX editor but it requires a spare pronto...just learn the codes from the MX remote onto the pronto - the pronto editor will show the hex on screen. If you can get a pronto cheaply it'll save you a lot of time.
