Yup, that software is very buggy. The way that Universal would want you to do this would be to use the Tune Up option, from the main menu. In there, you are supposed to be able to change the volume controls.
Now, here's what you actually have to do to get it to work...
Only use the wizard to do the initial setup or to create a new activity macro. After that, do everything else in the browser. Every time I try to create a new activity macro, in the wizard, it never works... not a single command. I can always fix it in the browser though.
To change the volume controls:
- Enter the browser
- Load up your current wizard file, in the browser (hit the browse button and load it up)
- Double click watch cable tv activity macro and select one of the volume buttons on the right. In one of the bottom windows, it will say something like TV.446. Delete that.
- On the left side, browse to the device that controls the audio.
- Select that device's volume command
- Drag that volume command over to the right side window, where you deleted the wrong volume command. It will now say something like "Learned Command" or "Preprogrammed".
- Try it out
That wizard never setup any of my volume controls correctly, even when I told it to use my receiver to control the audio.
You can do almost anything you want using the browser. I edit all of my macros that way. I also use it to import any codes that I need. It's kind of annoying that you have to load up your own wizard file, in the browser, but it works. It would be nice if you could just browse URC's IR database directly from the browser.
I also use the browser to double up the power commands. I drag in the actual discrete on command, underneath the "Turn TV On" command. This ensures that all of my components get turned on. I've had problems, before I did this, with the MX-810 not sending the power on command, because it thinks it's already on. I do this with the input commands as well.
Hope that helps
