From a regular install on a PC I simply copied the URC Programs folder structure for the MX-3000 and MSC-400 editor to a USB stick. This folder structure contains all the editor/emulator, etc. files.
Then I plugged the USB stick into my laptop and simply launched the editor.exe files from there. Everything I have tried seems to work just fine.
I had expected it would miss some registry entries or other files that are usually created during the installation. Since those are missing now, I had expected the editors would not work.

Could anybody confirm that I am not setting myself up for trouble and/or let me know if there are any limitations to this approach? I definitely want to avoid that I corrupt any rcc or msf files that way. Nevertheless, it is a nifty if I do not want a permanent install on another e.g. loaner PC.

Thanks!

PS: I have started a thread about some MSC-400 macro mystery. Please note that is completely unrelated to this topic as I did not create/edit any of the mystery files going the USB stick route.

It's not wise to copy folder in this regard, it "may" seeming look like it working but you can never really know until you go thru all the functions of the MSC-400 & MX-3000.

My advice don't do else it may cost you alot more down the road.
