A big customer of ours wants to know if the MX-900s can be mounted onto a wall. Obviously that's stupid, it's a hand held remote, if he wanted a keypad he should have asked for that, but he's already ordered 11 remotes and has the potential for more so i want to keep him happy.
the questions then...is there any feasible way to do this? Issues for far:
There's nothing on the back that can be used to slot into a connection They're probably too thick to cut a recess into the thin walls The IR from the remote won't reach the TV if it's pointing upwards It wouldn't be easy to route IR two floors up and to the other side of the house (and would mean another two extenders)
Let me know if you come up with anything ingenious...

I would say no and come up with a touch panel / button pad solution rather than making something that you both will be unhappy with in the long run. Out of curiosity, why 11 of those remotes? No knowing the installation, it seems a bit overkill for a kids bedroom.

URC is coming out with what is essentially a in-wall MX-900 next year.

There is no efficient way of wall mounting a 900...
I had a customer ask for this as well due to his kids always losing the remote. I ended up installing an RTI 8-button RK1 as a backup with the 900.
Other than losing the remote, why do they want them wall mounted?

B&K has a version of the mx-950 that is an in wall keypad.
I'm sure we will see a 980 or perhaps a 810 version from URC at some point.
Be careful with inwall keypads and URC basestations, there is no IR routing available.

jberger - are there details of this online? i had a look but can't find anything
if you're wondering why the large numbers, he's a property developer and the 11 are split between 2 jobs:
one is a 7 zone (3 bed, 2 lounge, kitchen, study) with a remote in each, not really necessary (only 6 devices so could have put 2 zones one one remote) but its what they wanted, this is what he wanted keypads for
the other is 6 zone split between 4 remotes.
he mentioned keypads for the first job...he still wants the mx-900s, he was just being picky wanting somewhere to keep them

B&K hasn't realeased their new keypad yet, but they do have the CK1.2, which is essentially an in-wall MX700. The software/GUI is identical to an MX remote.
Their new keypad will be the CK2.2, which is basically an in-wall MX900, complete with USB file transfer (the CK1.2 uses the same COM cable that the 700/800/850 use).

How do they communicate with the equipment? Aren't they designed to hook-up directly with an RJ-45 to a B&K product?

They can be directly plugged into a CT multi-zone system using the RJ-45 jack, and they also have a phoenix connector on the back, which you can just hook up to an IR system and wire up the keypad as an IR receiver. CK1.2 [Link: bkcomp.com]and it seems they finally have the CK2.2 listed on their website [Link: bkcomp.com]

I made a client a little "docking station" one time to hold a MX-900. I made it by vacuum forming some abs plastic over a well protected MX-900 and I screwed it to a 1 gang blank plate by the bed. It was removable though. I would never permanently attach one. That would be best to use the B&K KP product IMHO.
