I have never used an AV-3100 but if you can send macros then I would suggest creating a button called living room on and living room off. When you press living room on it would sent the "on command" to units that are in that room, and the same for off (unit 1 on, unit 2 on unit 3 on). There is also a separate ir command for all on and all off, your biggest problem will be noise and jumping phases I would recommend using a phase coupler. Let us know how it goes.
