Beachfront Living Made Even Easier
By Arlen Schweiger
Life at this California vacation home is truly a breeze thanks to intelligent controls over home automation and all the A/V.

Ain’t life a beach? It definitely is for the family members who come and go at this southern California beachfront vacation home, which includes all-encompassing A/V and automation amenities to make life easy.

“The homeowners made it very clear from the beginning that they wanted absolute total automation as well as a complete audio-video entertainment experience throughout the house with a very modern look, minimal equipment exposure and easy-to-use controls,” says Dave Munkres of Oxnard, Calif.-based Elite Entertainment Systems, which outfitted the home’s high tech.

“This was to be a vacation home available to many family members, so maintaining a very minimal footprint in the overall decor of the home, and making it an enjoyable experience for all who used the home was the goal.”

The home offers a keyless access, security and fully integrated automation system with two color touchscreens all from control manufacturer HAI, says Munkres. Perimeter CCTV cameras from Leviton are fed into an HAI network DVR and are also viewable on TVs throughout the home.

A NuVo Grand Concerto distributed music system provides six sources of audio in every room, including two zones of surround sound, in the Great Room and Media Room. Both spaces also feature Denon audio and video equipment, a Sharp 52” and 65” Aquos LCD TV, respectively, and speakers from Bay Audio. Two URC MX-980’s provide control of the systems as well as the lighting and shades.
