thanks for the reply. What I mean by add a command it that on some of the buttons there is no function prebuilt in the coded remote. For instance the record button does not have a function but I want to add a command to that record button for a function (i.e. play) just as an example.

There are three ways to get a command onto a button.

1. You can learn it from your original remote.
  - Open the software
  - Select "Tune Up"
  - Select "Learn new commands from any remote control"
  - Pick the device you want to learn into
  - Click on each button that you want to learn over and click "Mark this button as bad"
  - Click "Next" and the software will step you through learning all the buttons you marked as bad

2.  You can copy the button from another device or activity
  - Open up the software
  - Select "Tune Up"
  - Select "Copy a command from one device and paste it into another device or activity"
  - Click "Next"
  - Select the device or activity on top that has the function you want
  - Click on the button that has the function you want
  - Click "Copy Button"
  - Select the device or activity on top you want to copy into
  - Click on the button that you want to copy into to
  - Click "Paste Button"

3.  You can use the universal browser to import commands from this or another file.
