Been using URC remotes for a couple years. Just bought a MX-850 and no matter what I do it will not communicate with the PC. I read and did all the suggestions on this site and the URC site. Have two computers, one running XP and the other Vista. The XP machine has a serial port (Com1). I also purchased today a serial to usb cable and still no luck. I have reinstalled the mxeditor, tried plugging in the cables at various times and orders with relation to bootup. Installed Prolifics usb to serial driver.
How important is using a Belkin or Keyspan cable? I picked up a Dynex locally. It states speeds "of over 115 Kpbs. The Keyspan cable specs said 233 I think. Any thoughts here?
