usb cable is a standard format A to Mini usb, most camera's use them.

with no software running, if you plugin the TSU (and the TSU is in sleep mode) it will just wake it up, but thats all.

can you do a firmware update?

on the XP PC, make sure there is no booth active.
if you right click on "My computer" and click on Manage you should see the pronto as a mass storage device.

Are you useing latest software?
if all these fail, take it back to where you purchsed it from, and get a replacement.
