"PQ deplorable at best"? The PQ on properly mastered BD releases will be identical to a HD-DVD version, and potentially better due to greater capacity and higher bandwidth. A poorly mastered BD will look just as bad as a poorly mastered HD DVD.

"Freezing up"? After the first couple of firmware revisions to the PS3 I haven't had any problems... and true there have been some troublesome BD players (lower end Samsungs), but considering that the third-generation HD DVD players aren't exactly known for their rock solidness (and yes, I now own an HD-A35 too) this is a sort of a moot point.

"Throw away your DVDs"? Why would owning BD make you throw them away any more than owning HD DVD would?

Amazon currently lists 550 entries for HD DVD and 628 entries for BD. Note that both of those catalogues include a lot of "bad" entries such as discontinued titles, announced but never released titles, "would be nice to have" titles, and so forth, but it's still a comparison.
