A sad state of affairs.
While the emphasis should definitely be placed on making a good living, sharing ways of implementing the new features of this remote with other installers will almost invariably enhance that bottom line. Helping the CI to be more efficient at programming and installing the Pronto 9600 products, and also promoting a higher client satisfaction when something that the client really wants, that the CI does not know about, but the answer can be found here, will enhance the $$$ figure, the stress level of the CI, and the client's overall satisfaction and resultant word-of-mouth advertising.
If CI's do not want to use such a great forum as Remote Central to share advanced programming techniques, tip and tricks, I believe they are figuratively shooting themselves in the foot!
Share your discoveries, and benefit by others' discoveries.
If what you say IS happening in the RTI forum, then I DO believe that the CI's are currently "shooting themselves in the foot" and doing THEMSELVES a disservice in the long run.
IMHO.
