According to Philip's brochure, the 9600's dimensions are: (WxDxH) inch: 6.2 x 3.9
x 1.3.
The 7500's dimensions are: (WxDxH) inch: 3.6" x 1.1" x 6.0".
So, it seems that the 9600 is about the same size (just a tad larger) as the 7500, but it's more horizontal (wider) than it is vertical (taller). Glad to hear that other folks (at least based on the responses so far) don't seem to mind its dimensions. Just makes it harder for me to resist the 9600....
