The processors on these new units are..........so..........slow.......it's........mad.......en.......ing.
The IR receivers are so sensitive We had an mx850/mrf300 combo on a new HR20. we cranked the emitter all the way down, put a single ply of toilet paper (charmin with Aloe....ahhhhhhhh) over the emitter and laid on the shelf under the HR20, and faced it away from the front of the unit so it fire forward bouncing off the interior of the cabinet door back into the IR receiver (who designed a freaking concave emitter window?) window.
You can imagine how long it took to figure that one out.
