So Windows Vista ships to retail (allegedly) in less than a month.

This new OS contains a new feature called Mobile Device Center which is supposed to replace the features of ActiveSync. In fact, when installing MX-Editor, Vista will not allow the software to install ActiveSync at all, which is naturally required to connect to the MX-3000 and update it.

So there's problem number one. Now, supposedly, when the retail version of Vista ships, the Mobile Device Center will be compatible with ActiveSync devices. So it's possible that MX-Editor will allow updating of the MX-3000 under Vista with no update to the URC software. I don't know for sure.

However, problem number two comes when you install the 64-bit version of Vista, which one assumes many people will do. A 64-bit OS requires different drivers for hardware, and naturally at this point (so far as I know) there is no 64-bit driver for the MX-3000...so Windows doesn't recognize it when it is plugged into a USB port.

Does anyone have the scoop on these issues? Will an update to the MX-Editor be required? If so, how will it be distributed? Will URC release a 64-bit driver for the MX-3000?
