I wouldnt send them back, it sounds like they are aware of the situation and will have it corrected soon. Im sure they will want to fix it as son as possible.
The MSC400 is quite a unit and a few things probably were overlooked and will be corrected. what if you sent it back and the next day there was an update to correct it?? now you have to reorder and wait few days
You dont have to route every device, the routing is nice if you have multiple devices that are the same..3 vcr's or 2 sats, if you do have multiples, just connect them up on the lower routable ports for now
