At the end of the day, in the world of the internet, no matter what "rules" URC wants to enforce, someone who wants the software will find a way to get it. This is no different than AMX, Crestron & Control4 software IS out there, you just have to look.

So as you state, does URC want to make it easy for DIY'ers to get the tools they need to make the remotes they paid for as good as they can be, or do they run the risk of "forcing" the DIY market elsewhere?

I have said it before, if the DIY market for URC products disapearred, URC would take a hit financially. The need those DIY sales.
