The cheapest (albeit maybe not the easiest) way using your remote would be to hold the remote in your hand and walk over to the PC and depress the PC power on button with the other end of the remote:). I suppose then the easiest way would be to get someone else to do it. THe only I could make this work on my setup was to buy the X10 IR543 and a power module ( I also got a dimmable lighting module). My universal remote -Logittech 880 had codes already for this module. The only caveat is that your PC's BIOS has to have an option to allow startup on power restore. Plug the PC into the power module press the button on the remote and the PC dutifully starts up. The other catch is that you have to power down the module when you are finished using the PC as the PC won't start up again unless the power is actually disconnected first. Works for me though I'm sure it is not the only way.
