I also got the "1904 - failed to register" and "missing MFC71.dll" errors. Another solution that worked for me with both Windows XP and XP MCE 2005. I simply uninstalled 3.04 in Add/Remove Programs, rebooted, then downloaded and installed the multilanguage version of the 3.04 installer from ATI's web site. That version includes MFC71.DLL in the installation. No errors, no problems.
