I've also noticed that if the backlight is off when you hit the four hard buttons around the directional pad, the backlight turns on, but the actions for the button don't happen. All the other hard and firm buttons (including the directional pad) turn on the backlight* and perform their actions. Not good.

This ends up making it three presses for some of my most common actions. The first turns on the backlight. The second gets dropped on the floor, because the remote wasn't ready for it. Then, the third finally gets it. Blech.

* Unlike my TS1000/01, hitting the hard buttons turns on the backlight for the screen, rather than just the backlight for the hard buttons. Bummer. I suppose there's just one backlight now, so it was unavoidable.
