I was thinking about buying the DVD kit (rc and IR receiver) for the Xbox hoping I could learn the remote codes to turn the power off and on with my Pronto. When I went to buy the kit I noticed that there is no power button on the thing and after doing some research on RC.com I found out that an on/off code does not even exist. SO, I emailed Microsoft and this is the response.....

Question:
I notice that the remote for the DVD kit for Xbox does not have power (on/off) control. Is there any way to program a remote to learn these codes? If not, does Microsoft plan to release a DVD kit with a remote that is capable of power control? It is kind of inconvenient to have a remote and not be able to turn the unit on....
Thanks,
Phillip

Answer:
Hello Phillip,
Thank you for writing to Xbox regarding the DVD remote features.

Unfortunately, you asked about a feature that Xbox DVD remote does not currently have yet. However, we might do so in the future because we review all customer comments regularly and use them to help make gaming improvements.

We consider all of the suggestions and comments sent in by our members, and we maintain an internal database of suggestions that we consult and prioritize.

Note: you can also visit [Link: xbox.com] to stay up-to-date with the latest peripherals our partners are developing to enhance the features of Xbox.

If you have other Xbox concerns, please feel free to write back.

We are working to make Xbox the best gaming system for you.

Sincerely,

Rommel

Do you think I should hold my breath or does it sound like I have hope? Also, do you think I will have to buy a whole new Xbox when & if they ever make this feature available???
