Thanks for the idea, but if it was duration, why would it work fine when there are no other commands in the macro but the one. And then adding another link, jump or delay, anything else to the macro, it stops working.

After creating a new pcf, with just the three required buttons for the macro, and it works fine, I then replaced the suspect hex into the new pcf buttons, and it works! Take the new pcf hex and replace the suspect hex in the bad pcf, no go.

Simply adding another step to a macro shouldn't change any other commands operation, right?
