Using the IR emitter placement I outlined for you in an earlier reply I've had flawless performance via the RFX6000 and RFX6500. Same goes for the RFX9400 I'm currently using. Have you experimented with the placement of your RF extender and external antenna? Optimal placement of the extender and antenna will help rule out any performance issues in this regard.
