All of the PVR functions can be learned to the NEO. I do not have my ncf uploaded anywhere since it is a mess, but they were no hassle to learn from the remote at all. The dish networks remote transmits UHF and IR at the same time. As far as which remote to go with I think you should go with the NEO for sure. The cursor pad is perfect for the guide menu, and that lets you put your PVR fuction on the same page while your viewing the television. I would find it a major pain if I had to fumble with the touchscreen every time I needed to change channels. As to why my NEO is a mess right now, I am still becoming familiar with both the NEO and my PVR. I am confident that I will be able to retire the dish network remote though. And I must say it is a great remote itself. We plan on putting a TV in the bedroom hooked up to the kids reciever and using that remote.
