If you have an IR repeater you don't want the 890. The 890 gives you the same capability as your jobsite IR repeater but it will only work with the 890. The jobsite will work with ANY IR remote including the OEM remotes so it's way more flexible.
Are you saying that you get more range from the HR20 remote in RF mode than in IR mode? That's just the difference in the way RF and IR work.
