But it does work out of the box the majority of the time. Certain devices and certain setups have problems sometimes. At least it allows you to fix it, even if it can be complicated.

Have you tried using the HELP button to resync? It may just be that the remote needs to be synced up with the TV once and then it should be ok. If that fixes it until the tv is turned off and back on and then it's out of sync again, check the answer to the question about what input the TV starts on.
