Cycling means you scroll through a list of inputs to select one. Discrete means you send a command and it goes directly to that input. Check any command that starts with "Input" to see if they're discrete.

The commands used to select inputs are simply the commands used to scroll through the list and select the right one. The setup will ask you these questions, just make sure you answer them correctly. Try the commands in device mode to be sure they work like you think.
