I also have the SA8300HD, and I press the FF (Fast Forward) button usually 3 times (4 times for very long commercials), then the 8 sec Replay button once or twice. If you want, you can use the activity sequence function to map a sequence of 3 FF to a key. My Replay function is actually a sequence of 2 commands: Play + Replay. The Play command, preceding the Replay, is used to reset the FF counter to overcome a bug in my current SA8300HD software. Note: I used to have a VCR with both a 30 sec skip and a FF function and found the FF function a lot more convenient than the 30 sec skip specially with long commercials.
