I figured out how to isolate each power off using my old RM-AV2000. From another thread... I noticed that on that unit, when I did a "system off," the commander first sends out a universal signal that shuts down most Sony's in one shot. It then scroll’s through (slowly) individual power-off's for each component. In my case, I only needed the amp shut off. This is what I did: First, I put the 3000 into learn mode. I then choose a function on a component that I do not use (i.e.: “1” on “DVD2”). I then push the key to be taught, then I quickly hold down the “system off” command on my old unit. Here’s the tricky part: I actually keep the teaching remote POINTED AWAY from the learning remote. When the discrete “power-off” command for my particular component poped-up, I quickly point the remote at my 3000. It worked on my first try! I now have isolated my discrete “power-off” for my amp. I will do the same for other components as well.
