I agree totally that X-10 is weird. It has been around for years with some minor problems, now solved, and Radio Ra is a good solution....
AND X-10 requires you to mess with the power line phases at the power box, where you may or may not have adequate space to insert the bridge that transfers signals from one phase to the other....
AND X-10 is addressable in most urban locations from next door or maybe anyone two or three houses away via their power lines....
AND X-10 is (well, it was four years ago) really screwy to integrate into a system with IR control,
how about IR?
Check out Makita, of all people! They have auto-drape systems that work with instructions that are perfect. The first one I installed was in a trip to the other end of the country where I was putting in the first one I had ever seen. The tech guy at Makita was great at being sure I knew what to order, and it went in and operated flawlessly.
