I bet it is a mistake. Someone wrote one paragraph one day and months later, after the specs had changed somewhat, someone wrote the other paragraph.
Mistakes happen. I mounted a Sony G90 a few years ago, and the calculations for the throw distance were said to be related to the distance to the lens. Turns out it was the distance to the center of the mount. Mistakes happen.
By the way, what is the projector? It can only help us all for you to mention it!
