I needed to have a remote for my cable and the viewsonic.
the remote that came with the cable box (Time Warner Cable) would not program for the TV
I bought a Sony universal on ebay (once opened) and was able to program the tv and the cable box.
For the TV I used Philips code 011
and used the search feature on the remote for the cable box

All universal remotes are not "Universal"

To do it all over again I would not have bought this tv.

I think the Viewsonic company should learn to be more customer friendly.
