Yes, I have some advice.
1. Turn the caps lock off on your keyboard. All caps indicates you're shouting, and while that may be what you intend, it makes it hard for others to take you seriously.

2. Cut your losses. Toss the Sony, find yourself a specialty shop that sells Denon, and buy a moderately priced progressive scan unit. During this process, ask for the store manager, tell him you're looking for a salesman with whom you can generate a long term client relationship. And then stay with them. Period. You will accomplish two things here. One, you will get a better piece of equipment. Two, you will have at least an odds on chance of having someone who will look out for your best interest, maybe even to the point of "eating" a product that didn't pass muster, because they're looking at the long term benefit. Now, I mentioned Denon. It doesn't necessarily have to be a Denon, but it should not be a mass-market piece like the standard Sony line. However, IMO, you will have to spend considerably more to beat the value and performance of Denon.

3. No matter whose piece you buy, throw away the cables that come with it, and buy some decent cables. Allow yourself about 15-20% of the cost of the unit for this.

4. Enjoy.

Jeff
