One has definitely got to think of the receiving end as well. Some have complained about the IR strength of their remotes with certain equipment, and blamed it on the remote. RS-1994 for example. Some need to be closer than 20 feet to their receivers. Sony seems to have great receiving devices, because I can point my RS-1994 backwards, at the ceiling, at the walls, and everything works. - greg
