Personally, mainly because I downloaded the software before I got the remote, I set up all my devices, custom buttons and pages first. I then downloaded them to the remote, set up the individual components, then just learned all the buttons so I could have them set up the way I want. Finally, I created macros on the buttons I'd set up for them. I've also made minor changes right on the remote. Until the software is more stable, this is the safest way to go in my opinion.
