I have a Toshiba SD-V291 (combination VCR and DVD player). I have it hooked up to an RF modulator as my TV is not DVD compatible. Sometimes, when I play a DVD movie, I have to turn the volume up so high just in order to hear the movie that when I switch back to the TV, it is blasting. What is the cause of this? Is it the DVD player or something else? I did receive a notice in the mail about the class action lawsuit against Toshiba. Other than this, the only problem I have with the player is that it sometimes gets stuck in protection mode and I have to reopen and close the DVD drawer to get it going again. (Protection mode is when you see the uprised hand like a policeman stopping traffic, right?)
