Another option is to not use the Global ON Macro, and just set up the Component Buttons as Macros. So from MAIN, make the following macros
1) TV soft button: Send TV on, Receiver On, set it to your favorite channel
2) DVD soft button: Send TV on, Receiver On, Send DVD on, Set TV to DVD input.
3) TIVO soft button: Send TV on, Receiver On, Set TV to Tivo input. (I assume Tivo is on all the time, so no Tivo ON needed)

You can use the Global OFF button - Have it turn off all devices.
Leave the ON button to just turn on individual components as needed.

You want to watch TV, press Main - TV
You want to watch a DVD, press Main - DVD, etc
