Hm, unfortunately, that seems to be 8 devices, or I'd recommend the one-for-all Cinema 7. You still might want to check it out, as it offers a lot of bang for the buck. Price is about $15 for the old non-learning version or $25 for the new learning version.
I use a Cinema 7 in my bedroom and it works very well, although I'm only controlling sat (dish 4700), tv, and VCR there. Not sure I would want to use one for my main system - for that there's the pronto... definately not a 'less expensive option' but well worth it IMO :)
