I've got the manual handy. To program a TV or VCR code, the manual says:

1) Turn on the device to be programmed.
2) Press and hold the device button you want to program.
3) Enter the code.
4) Release the device button and press ON-OFF to see if the device responds. If not, press the device button and ON-OFF again.
5) If this still doesn't work, try another code.

The JVC VCR codes are: 0002, 0014, 0016, 0030, 0044, 0046, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2018, 2058, 2111, and 2123.

Magnavox TV codes are: 1004, 1006, 1008, 1019, 1062, 1068, 1069, 1074, 1075, 1076, 1077, 1088, 1089, 1131, 1130, 1132, 1133, 1134, 1183, 1184.
