I live on the 12th floor of an apartment building and would like to install a satellite dish, but I am unsure how or if it can be properly grounded. At this point I am trying to determine if the metal railing is grounded. A volt meter connected from the hot side of an electrical outlet to the railing shows a 120V potential difference (leads me to believe the railing is grounded). A resistance check between the electrical outlet ground terminal and the railing shows about 2 megaohms of resistance (leads me to believe that the railing is ungrounded). Is it safe to run the ground wire from the satellite directly into the electrical outlet ground socket (the socket is outside)? Any suggestions on how to properly ground the system are greatly appreciated.
