I have had an RCA DSS Receiver (5451) which includes the optical digital output for almost three years, along with a Cinema 7 learning remote. Last night, I replaced my Sony receiver with a Marantz SR5200 receiver. Since I have a separate video switcher, I only route audio signals through the Marantz. Specifically, I plugged the optical digital cable from the RCA into "Digital 1" on the Marantz, and then assigned "Digital 1" to the "DSS" input on the Marantz.

My problem is that when I switch the Marantz to the "DSS" input, my RCA DSS receiver ignores the infrared commands from my Cinema 7. As soon as I switch the Marantz to a different input, such as "CD", the RCA instantaneously responds again to the remote. Since my RCA has the RF remote feature, I thought that there might be some strange interference between the Marantz when it is on "DSS" and the RCA, so I disabled the RF remote. It still seemed to be a problem, but I am now wondering if the RCA had to be shutoff for the RF disabling to take effect. I might also try to pull the RF antenna from the back of the RCA just to be sure.

Has anyone come across this screwy problem before? I called Marantz technical support, but they had no clue. I assume that the SR5200 is not that much different than the previous SR50XX receivers, and hope that someone else might have come across this problem before. If anyone has any helpful suggestions, please e-mail me at screedchan@yahoo.com

Thanks at lot in advance.
