Oct. 29 — General Motors Corp. struck a deal to sell its Hughes Electronics Corp. subsidiary to EchoStar Communications Corp. for $25.8 billion in stock and cash, capping a weekend of brinkmanship that saw early favorite News Corp. walk away in a huff and EchoStar’s own bid falter momentarily on financing concerns.
