You can split the cable signal. You must place the slpitter in line BEFORE it connects to the cablebox input. One port of the splitters out goes to the cablebox, the other goes to the second room. The second room will now only have the analog channels, but it will have something.

You can't split the satellite signal, but you can split the satellite's output signal. You will only be able to watch the same channel as in room1, but you will get something.
