I've never done it, but from what I understand in order to increase gain with two antennas, you have to use identical antennas, with equal lengths of coax into the combiner, and the antennas have to mounted a certain distance apart (not sure what distance) and be pointing in the same direction.

I do know you cannot combine two antennas and have them pointing in two different directions.

You best bet would be a antenna rotor.
