Standard X-10 lamp modules are capable of about 10-16 steps of dimming. However, there are two other dimming protocols that allow more dimming steps.

One is called Preset Dim. This protocol allows for 32 dimming steps. Lamp modules and light switches are available that use this protocol.

The other is called Micro Dim which allows 200 steps. This one is sometimes is used to simulate sunrise over a 30 minute period. Lamp modules and light switches are available that use this protocol

As you might have guessed, these protocols must also be supported by a transmitter. The X-10 IR command set does not support either of these protocols. However, many home automation controllers support the Preset Dim, and some support the Micro Dim.

We carry all of the products mentioned above. Please send us an e-mail if you would like to order any of them.
