That's the way X-10 works. I don't see any reason you would want it any other way. Just program your "button" to have a "3" than "on" or
"off" ,"bright" or "dim". One thing you probally didn't know is you can choose several units before you issue the on ,off, dim or bright command. You could have a button that turns all lights on and it could look like this:

Most people would program it with on's after each unit code, but thats not needed. You could also have buttons for each light, choose a few, and turn them all on or off at once.

Dim and brights are just like the on and off's in thay they are not unit specific. You can also dim and bright several lights by chossing the unit first. If yours works different, e-mail the CCF to remote central because you might have some cool codes, but i don't think so!
