Use any IR codes that work for the IR543.
Most remotes have a X10 selection, try them, and remember that the 4040 (AKA: IR543) only accepts unit codes and sends them out with the house code you select with the little wheel on the top of the device.
If you want to send to all house codes you'll need an IR543AH and a remote that can send these 'special' codes.
