You'll need a remote control with the IR X10 commands installed.

You'll also need a controller (like the PHC02) to set up Scenes:

Set the switch and the IR543 to the same HouseCode(A/B/C . . .Etc.).

Use the remote commands to turn on or dim the lights wired to the SmartSwitch, first select the UnitCode (1-16), then send the Command( on/off/dim. . . etc.).

If you want to use your remote to control more than one HouseCode, You will need a IR543AH, and a remote that can handle the 'special HouseCodes'.
